About this listing

Built by Sir Harry Verney in the early 20th century, this wing of Wern y Wylan and is part of a unique hamlet which is a striking example of the Arts and Crafts architectural style. The Arts and Crafts movement was a British design movement that flourished between 1860 and 1910 led by the artist and writer William Morris which stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms and often applied medieval, romantic or folk styles of decoration in an anti-industrial statement.

Things to do / Places to Visit nearby

Puffin Island – Puffin Island is an uninhabited island off the eastern tip of Anglesey, Wales. A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), unfortunately it is not possible for visitors to land on the island without permission from the landowner. However if you want to see the birds then the best way is to take a boat trip around the island. Boat trips operate all through the summer with three operators. All boats operate from Beaumaris.

Penmon Priory – Remains of the priory dating from the thirteenth century, when the house became part of the Augustinian order. The origins of the site are traditionally associated with St Seiriol in the sixth century. Set in a quiet corner of Anglesey along winding lanes. £3.00 to park here also covers travelling further on to Penmon Point with its beach and view of the lighthouse. Ruins of the Priory with full explanations, an old Dovecote and St Seriol’s church and a well. Plus some pathways to explore. Wonderful views over the Straights to the Snowdonia range.

Anglesey Coastal Path – The Anglesey Coastal Path is a 200-kilometre long-distance footpath around the island of Anglesey in North Wales.

Penmon Lighthouse – Trwyn Du Lighthouse is a lighthouse between Black Point near Penmon and Ynys Seriol, or Puffin Island, at the eastern extremity of Anglesey, marking the passage between the two islands.

Lleiniog Beach – Lleiniog Beach is mostly sand and shingle, and located at the top north-eastern corner of Anglesey, about 2½ miles north of Beaumaris. This beach is perfectly located for glorious views of the Snowdonian mountains the Great Orme and of passing boats along the Menai Straits. It offers plenty of space on the beach to play around in the sun as well as to explore rock pools and collect a shell or two!
