Things to do / Places to Visit nearby
Beaumaris is a captivating seaside town, with its mix of medieval, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture. A ‘must’ is to take a walk through the town, starting with a stroll along the seafront, taking in the pier and the views over the Menai Strait and Snowdonia then continuing through the charming streets with their picturesque cottages, many painted in soft pastel colours.
Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour is situated in the heart of Beaumaris and brings the finest ice creams and sorbets to the beautiful resort town of Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey. This ice cream has to be the best in Wales (and I’ve sampled most of them!). Great selection of flavours, helpful friendly staff, and even outdoor seating. A real treat.
Beaumaris Castle. A World Heritage Site, Beaumaris Castle has a perfect concentric design, is surrounded by a water moat, and has stunning views over the Menai straits and Snowdonia mountain range. A great castle, albeit one that was never finished. The walls are very impressive and surrounded by a moat. It is worth taking the stairs up to the walls and walking around the views are outstanding.
Beaumaris Gaol and Courthouse.  Recommend buying the joint ticket to see both. Both buildings are pretty much as they were hundreds of years ago. Great insight into law and order and how it worked and failed back then. Including Beaumaris’s links to pirates.
Beaumaris Pier is located on the banks of the Menai Strait in the town of Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales. Beaumaris Pier is popular with anglers, holiday makers and children simply having good old fashioned fun catching crabs from the clear waters of the strait
Puffin Island Cruises – Puffin Island is an uninhabited island off the eastern tip of Anglesey. It’s a bird sanctuary and nesting site for many species of breeding seabirds, there’s also a resident colony of Atlantic Grey Seals. A 90 minute leisurely cruise takes in the wonderful scenery and landmarks.
Penmon Priory –Â Remains of the priory dating from the thirteenth century, when the house became part of the Augustinian order. The origins of the site are traditionally associated with St Seiriol in the sixth century.
Penmon Lighthouse – Trwyn Du Lighthouse is a lighthouse between Black Point near Penmon and Ynys Seriol, or Puffin Island, at the eastern extremity of Anglesey, marking the passage between the two islands.
Lleiniog Beach – Lleiniog Beach is mostly sand and shingle, and located about 2½ miles north of Beaumaris.

Simdde Wen is a lovely cottage, very well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels etc. It’s like a new pin when you arrive, I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere so clean and well appointed. Everything works and the shower is brilliant. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful when we were there and best of all, so central to Beaumaris. We will definitely be staying there again, whether it be for a weekend or another week next year!

We stayed a week at this lovely cottage, it was clean as a new pin when we arrived, the kitchen is well equipped and everything works! Fabulous shower, plenty of towels etc. It’s very central to Beaumaris centre and a 2 minute walk to the fabulous Bakery. Beaumaris has some super shops and an amazing deli/butchers. The Tapas bar is also good. It’s only 10 minutes drive to the mainland so the supermarkets in Bangor are very accessible. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful, even taking the car to have a puncture repaired one day we were booked to go to an attraction (Electric Mountain in Llanberis – v interesting!) so we could make the booking!

We enjoyed our short stay (4 nights) at Simdde Wen. The bungalow is clean, very comfortable and spacious with everything we needed for our stay. It is well located on the edge of Beaumaris with ample car parking space but only a short walk (5 minutes) to the seafront, pier, shops and restaurants. The 3 bedrooms are large with plenty of space and very comfortable beds and plenty of wardrobe space. The lounge and kitchen are also large and well equipped plus there is a utility room with washing machine and very useful additional fridge/freezer. Nice sunny and private garden with dining table, chairs and a bench. Location is great to visit anywhere in Angelsey, or further afield to Snowdonia and the Llyn peninsula. We highly recommend Simdde Wen

“Located a short walk from the centre of Beaumaris, and with own parking. Good size bedrooms, lounge and kitchen, plus storage space. We used it as a base for exploring Anglesey, and went as far as Snowdon (climbed to summit) on mainland, but it was brilliant to be able to walk into Beaumaris for breakfast or dinner or just walk along by the water whenever we didn’t want to travel. Highly recommended.”

Lovely bungalow in quiet cul-de-sac type area right on the coast and easy walking distance to lovely Beaumaris where there’s plenty to do and plenty of places to eat and drink. Bungalow was lovely and clean, great size with everything you need, a real home from home and would definitely visit again.
